John H. Julian - Musical Director

John Julian is the most under-appreciated man in America. His talent and dedication are unsurpassed. He works hard, and it shows.

John's career has spanned over 25 years and includes a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of North Texas and a Master of Music Degree in Conducting from the University of Texas at Austin(UT). There he served as Graduate Teaching Assistant for the UT Wind Ensemble and Longhorn Band, as well as conductor for the celebrated Longhorn Jazz Band.

Mr. Julian has taught award-winning bands in North Central Texas Independent School Districts including Arlington, Dallas, DeSoto, Mansfield, San Antonio, and West, and has served as clinician and adjudicator for various high school and junior high school band and jazz band events.

Studying trumpet with Don Jacoby and Raymond Crisara, Mr. Julian was a member of The University of Texas Jazz Orchestra and Wind Ensemble(principal). He has performed professionally in free-lance work with dance bands, musicals, churches and studio recording.

Among Mr. Julian's personal awards are Outstanding Young Men of America, Who's Who Among American Teachers, Who's Who Among American College Students, Imperial Corporation Service Award and the Citation of Excellence from the Dallas Independent School District(DISD). Mr. Julian has been awarded memberships in Phi Kappa Phi and Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Societies.


William Owens - Associate Director

William Owens received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from in 1985 from Van Cook College of Music in Chicago. A seasoned music educator, Willy is active as a composer, conductor, and clinician throughout the United States. He has written numerous commissioned and published works for middle school and high school bands. Willy conducts, plays Alto Saxophone, and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Symphony.

His music has been programmed at prestigious venues such as the Midwest Clinic and appears on required music lists both nationally and abroad. Principal commissions include those from the California Band Directors association, the Chicago Public Schools Bureau of Cultural Arts, and the Texas University Interscholastic League. Willy is a winner of the ASCAPlus award and two-time recipient of the Forrest L. Buchtel Citation for Excellence in Band Composition. Professional memberships include ASCAP, the American Composers Forum, and Texas Music Educators Association.

Willy and his wife Georgia live in Ft. Worth Texas.
